About the Forrestal Fire - Part II

     The fire destroyed millions of dollars worth of planes and other equipment. The flight deck and much of the rest of the ship was in ruins after the fire.

 

     One hundred thirty-four men died on the Forrestal that day. Their fellow sailors had to create a makeshift morgue on the hangar deck.
